R&D EU Projects
T&D Europe is taking part in European research & development programmes as a technology and innovation provider for electricity grids in Europe. Over the past years, T&D Europe has been an active partner in two large-scale projects supported by the EU Seventh Framework Programme, namely Grid+ and e-Highway2050.
The e-Highway2050 project has developed a methodology to support the planning of the Pan-European Transmission Network, that will ensure a steadfast delivery of renewable electricity and pan-European market integration. The project has brought about a modular development plan for possible electricity highways and present options for a comprehensive pan-European grid architecture, based on various future power system scenarios. More information about this project is available here as well as a video outlining the e-Highway research projects results.
GRID+ is a Coordination and Support Action created to implement and support the management, planning and networking process of the European Electricity Grids Initiative (EEGI). The project took place in 2012-2014 for a period of 36 months, both in the EU and beyond its borders. The EEGI represents one of the European Industrial Initiatives under the Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan). Five critical issues concerning the electricity system and involving all stakeholders were addressed in this project: costs, benefits, KPIs, knowledge sharing, and financing. More information about this project is available here.
