T&D Europe study on "QUANTIFICATION ON BENEFITS OF T&D SYSTEMS WITH REGARDS TO THE EU 20-20-20-TARGETS" : executive summary.

The European Union has established challenging targets for 2020 on energy efficiency, CO2 reduction and renewable energy (20-20-20 targets), and it is well known that the whole electrical network, its set-up as well as the products used, will play a decisive role in achieving these goals. At the beginning of 2009, recognising the lack of specific date, T&D Europe launched with the University of Genoa-Electrical Engineering Department (Professors Barbara BONVINI, Federico DELFINO, Gio Battista DENEGRI, Marco INVERNIZZI) a study for the "QUANTIFICATION ON BENEFITS OF THE T&D SYSTEMS WITH REGARDS TO THE EU 20-20-20 TARGETS". This study describes how to minimize the environmental impact of the Electricity Transmission and Distribution Systems with the criteria to quantify the contribution of new technologies and equipment to achieve the EU 20/20/20 targets. The executive summary of the study is presented in the attached publication.
